VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

At the K-9 Wellness Center, we believe that comfort and connection matter just as much as clean suites and good routines. Some of our boarding guests simply benefit from a little extra attention — a quiet visit, a gentle brushing, or some relaxed playtime.

Our Volunteer Program is designed for community members who want to spend time with dogs and cats staying with us — offering companionship, calm interaction, and a little extra love while their families are away.

If you’ve ever thought, “I just want to hang out with animals for an hour,” this program may be for you.

Join us for our Orientation Event to meet our staff, learn more about the program, and what it is like to be a volunteer.

  • Volunteers may:

    • Sit with a shy dog and offer calm company

    • Toss a ball or practice basic cues

    • Brush and gently interact with a relaxed boarding guest

    • Spend quiet time with a cat who enjoys soft conversation

    • Offer enrichment and supervised play under staff guidance

    This is not kennel cleaning or staff support work — it’s focused on companionship and positive interaction for our boarding guests.

  • Boarding can be an adjustment for some pets. While our staff provides excellent daily care, volunteers help create those extra moments of connection that reduce stress and build comfort.

    For many animals, just sitting nearby and offering a calm presence can make a world of difference.

  • We’re looking for individuals who:

    • Genuinely enjoy spending time with animals

    • Are calm, patient, and attentive

    • Can follow staff instructions and safety guidelines

    • Respect that every animal has different comfort levels

    • Are dependable and consistent

    Prior animal experience is helpful, but not required — the most important qualities are kindness and reliability.

    Please Note - if you are under the age of 18 then your parents will need to sign the liability release.

  • Volunteers opportunities are offered Thursday through Sunday from 8am to 5pm.

    These days are when we have the majority of our dog and cat boarding guests.

Volunteers will be invited for a short orientation and facility walkthrough with our staff before being able to sign-up for volunteer sessions.

All volunteers must sign a liability waiver and agree to follow facility guidelines and staff instruction.
